FARMINGTON, Utah (January 27, 2020) – The Big Sky Conference announces its #BigSkyTF Athletes of the Week.

On the men’s side, Montana State’s Noah Martin received men’s field athlete of the week honors while the men’s track athlete of the week honors went to Northern Arizona’s Tyler Day.

Weber State’s Emily Morgan-King was named the women’s track athlete of the week and Idaho State’s Brooke Anger received women’s field athlete of the week honors.

Day set the American collegiate record in the men’s 5K at the BU Terrier Classic at Boston University Friday night. His time of 13:16.95 topped Galen Rupp’s previous record and set a new Northern Arizona and Big Sky record. The previous Big Sky record of 13:29.01 was set in 2011 by Northern Arizona’s Diego Estrada.

Noah Martin finished first in the men's high jump with a new collegiate-best as he became Montana State's first jumper to clear seven feet in 24 years when Mark Koefelda did it in 1995. Martin set his first collegiate-best of 7-00.50 (2.14m) on his opening attempt at the height, then repeated the feat at 7-01.50 (2.17m). He moved to a tie for 18th on the Division I performance list with his jump and third all-time in the program's record book. He also placed first in the pole vault by clearing 15-01.00 (4.60m).

Morgan-King competed this past week at the Ed Jacoby Invitational hosted by Boise State.  Morgan-King competed in the 60 meters and ran with a time of 7.52 to tie her current personal record and is currently ranked first in the Big Sky Conference. The senior sprinter also ran in the 200 meters and posted a personal best of 24.32. This time ranks as the second-best in school history and is currently ranked second in the Big Sky.

For the third week in a row, Brooke Anger won the women's pole vault event. This week at the MSU Dual Invitational, Anger jumped a personal record height of 12' 10" (3.91m) against vaulters from Montana and Montana State. Her mark also moves her into a tie for fifth-place all-time in the Idaho State record-books.
