Coates, Short, Meade, Morgan-King Take Home #BigSkyTF Weekly Honors

FARMINGTON, Utah (January 13, 2020) – Idaho had two athletes take home weekly track and field honors for their performances this past week and Weber State and Northern Colorado also had athletes honored by the conference office.

Idaho’s Zack Short was named the men’s field athlete of the week and Rechelle Meade was named the women’s field athlete of the week.

Short easily won the shot put at the Vandal Open on Saturday with his throw of 62-10.00 (19.15m).  Saturday’s mark is the 10th best mark in the nation so far this year and it also sits first in the Big Sky.

Meade, also participating in the Vandal Open, won the long jump with a mark of 20-01.00 (6.12m).  Her mark on Saturday is the best in the Big Sky so far this season and is also 10th best nationally.  Meade also competed in the 60-meter dash and finished second in the event with a time of 7.84.

Northern Colorado’s Antoine Coates is the Big Sky men’s track athlete of the week after earning a third-place finish in the 200-meters with a time of 21.84.  Coates also participated as a member of the 4x400-meter relay team that posted a third-place finish (3:21.21) at the Potts Invitational.

The women’s track athlete of the week went to Weber State’s Emily Morgan-King who won two events, the 60-meter, and the 200-meter.  In the 60-meters, Morgan-King finished with a time of 7.55 that tied her career-best and places her at the top of the Big Sky this season.

Morgan-King followed up her 60-meter performance with another individual title win in the 200-meters with a time of 24.76, another career best and the fastest in the conference.
