Fleiner, Madan Named Co-Women’s Golfers of the Week

FARMINGTON, Utah (September 25, 2019) – Northern Colorado’s Abbi Fleiner and Sacramento State’s Nishtha Madan have both been named the Big Sky Conference Women’s Golf Player of the Week, announced today by the league office.
Fleiner, a freshman for the Bears, showed no nerves in her first collegiate event finishing in second place at the Colonel Wallenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic. Fleiner tied a program record for lowest round shooting a four-under 68 during the second round and finished the tournament shooting a two-over 218. Fleiner shot the third-most birdies with 11 and helped UNC to an eighth-place finish.
Madan, a senior for the Hornets, led Sacramento State at the Golfweek Conference Challenge in Wolcott, Colo. Madan opened the tournament with an even 72 in the first round and a two-under 70 in the second, followed by a 76 in the final round to finish with 218 and tied for 20
th overall.
It is the first weekly honor of Fleiner’s career and the first for Madan this season and the second of her career.
Next up for Northern Colorado is the Rose City Collegiate from Sept. 30-Oct. 1 in Aurora, Ore. and for Sacramento State is the Princess Anne Invitational from Oct. 4-6 in Virginia Beach, Virg.
