FARMINGTON, Utah (September 11, 2019) – Southern Utah’s Jake Vincent has been named the Big Sky Conference Men’s Golf Player of the Week, announced today by the league office.
Vincent, a senior for the Thunderbirds, won the 2019 Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational in a playoff against two players from Northern Colorado, Jack Castiglia and Coby Welch. Vincent was able to make par on both No. 10 and No. 18 to come away with the win for his third individual victory. For the tournament, Vincent shot a seven-under 209 (68, 66, 75) to lead the way in Colorado.
With his third title, Vincent becomes the all-time leader in SUU men's golf DI history. All of Vincent's career wins have come as an upperclassman, as he claimed the individual title at both the Pizza Hut-Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational and the 2019 Big Sky Conference Championships last season as a junior, and now this one as a senior.
It is the first conference weekly honor of the season for Vincent and the fifth of his career.
Next up for Southern Utah is the Derek Dolnec Invitational from Sept. 23-24 in Madison, Ill.
Other Nominees: Jack Castiglia, Northern Colorado; Coby Welch, Northern Colorado; Hunter Howe, Weber State; Jayce Frampton, Weber State.
