Montana's Canellopoulos Claims #BigSkyTennis Men's Player of the Week Accolades
OGDEN, Utah (April 3, 2019) – Montana senior Alex Canellopoulos collected four wins playing No. 1 singles and doubles last week to garner the first Big Sky Conference Men’s Player of the Week honor of his career.
Canellopoulos opened the week with a 6-2, 6-0 win over UNLV’s Olle Thestrup to record the lone singles point for the Grizzlies in a 4-2 setback to the Rebels. The Athens, Greece native helped Montana claim the doubles point with a 7-5 victory over Thestrup and Jordan Sauer alongside partner Ludvig Hallgren.
Canellopoulos extended his singles win streak to four matches the following day with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Boise State’s Jack Heslin to once again tally the only singles win for Montana in a 4-2 loss. The Grizzlies won the doubles point against the Broncos as Canellopoulos and Hallgren won 6-0 against Wyatt DeMulling and Stefan Lalovic.
