MSU's Flink Earns Final #BigSkyTennis Men's Player of the Week Honor
OGDEN, Utah (April 23, 2019) – Montana State senior Alexander Flink closed out his collegiate career with three dominant wins at the top of the lineup last week to earn the final Big Sky Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week honor for the 2019 season.
The Sotckholm, Sweden native dropped just six games in singles action last week against a pair of Big Sky Championship qualifying teams in Montana and Southern Utah.
Flink opened the week helping the Bobcats earn a crucial doubles point in the match against Montana, teaming up with Drew Brown for a 6-1 victory at No. 1 over Max Korkh and Ed Pudney. He then lifted the Bobcats to a 2-0 lead with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Alex Canellopoulos. Montana State would go on to defeat rival Montana 4-3 to snap an 11-match losing skid to the Griz.
In a 5-2 loss to Southern Utah, Flink was one of two Bobcats to collect a singles win. He was once again the first off the court as he took down Jonathan Morales, 6-0, 6-2. His doubles match went unfinished against the Thunderbirds.
The player of the week honor is the first for Flink.
