ISU's Felix Garners First #BigSkyTennis Men's Weekly Honor
OGDEN, Utah (February 27, 2019) – Idaho State senior David Felix has been tabbed the Big Sky Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for the first time in his career after posting a 4-0 record to lead the Bengals to a 2-0 start in Big Sky play last weekend at home.
Felix recorded straight-set wins at No. 2 singles, downing Northern Colorado’s Julian Kenzlers, 6-1, 7-6 (3), and Eastern Washington’s Mikayel Khachatryan, 6-3, 6-1.
Against Northern Colorado, Felix and partner Gary Rendek picked up ISU’s first doubles win with a 6-3 victory at the No. 2 line to help the Bengals earn the doubles point. Felix then put the Bengals ahead 3-0 with his singles victory en route to a 5-2 win.
The Niederwürzbach, Germany product clinched the doubles point for the Bengals against Eastern Washington before collecting the first singles win in the 6-1 victory over the Eagles the following day.
Felix is now 5-2 in singles play at No. 2 this season and carries a 6-2 doubles record with a perfect 3-0 mark with Rendek at No. 2.
