OGDEN, Utah (February 26, 2019) – Following a pair of double-double performances including career-highs in both points and rebounds, Northern Arizona sophomore forward Bernie Andre has been named the Big Sky Conference Men’s Basketball Ready Nutrition Player of the Week.

Andre averaged 16.0 points and 14.5 rebounds per game last weekend against Idaho and Eastern Washington to guide NAU to a 1-1 record at home. The North Miami Beach, Fla. native shot 52 percent (13-of-25) from the floor and went a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line.

He opened the week with a career-high 22 points and 13 rebounds on 10-of-14 shooting in a 75-54 win over Idaho. Among his 13 rebounds, Andre pulled down six offensive boards in just 25 minutes of action.

Andre followed up with 10 points and a career-best 16 rebounds in 31 minutes against Eastern Washington on Saturday.

Andre has scored in double figures in 14 of the last 16 games for the Lumberjacks and has recorded seven double-doubles on the year to rank third in the Big Sky.

He is the first Lumberjack to garner Big Sky Player of the Week honors since Kris Yanku on Feb. 23, 2015.
