KANSAS CITY, Mo. (December 2, 2019)
– The Big Sky Conference placed five student-athletes on the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I All-West Region Team, the national organization announced Tuesday afternoon.

Northern Colorado’s Maddie Barkow and Sacramento State’s Mikayla Reed and Kylee Kim-Bustillos were named to the United Soccer Coaches All-West Region Second Team. Montana’s Taylor Hansen and Sacramento State’s Ariana Nino rounded out the selections by being named to the third team.

Barkow and Reed were two of four players named Big Sky Defensive MVP in 2019. Barkow was named to the Big Sky All-Tournament Team while helping guide Northern Colorado to a conference championship and NCAA Tournament berth. Reed was part of a defensive unit that allowed just five goals during conference play to tie for second in the Big Sky.

Collecting all-region honors for the second time in her career, Kim-Bustillos led the league with 21 points and nine goals scored this season to earn Big Sky Offensive MVP accolades.

Hansen spearheaded a Montana defense that played a large role in leading the Griz to a Big Sky regular season title. Montana allowed just two goals during Big Sky play for an impressive 0.21 goals against average.

Nino was one of the league's top scoring midfielders, totaling 11 points and five goals scored.

All five players were All-Big Sky First Team honorees this season.
