FARMINGTON, Utah (December 17, 2019) – Eastern Washington senior forward Mason Peatling put together a historic performance Friday in the Eagles’ 146-89 rout of Multnomah, earning him Big Sky Conference Men’s Basketball Ready Nutrition Player of the Week accolades.

Peatling’s 54 points broke a 49-year Big Sky single-game scoring record of 53, previously held by Idaho State’s Willie Humes from Feb. 20, 1971 against Montana State. It is just the fifth 50-point game in Big Sky history and the first since 1993.

Not only was his 54-point outburst impressive but Peatling accomplished the feat in just 24 minutes of court time while also adding 13 rebounds and four assists. His 54 points are the most in the NCAA this season.

The Melbourne, Australia native also set the league record for made field goals in a game, going 24-for-30 to surpass Humes’ previous record of 21.

Peatling’s performance ranked as one of the best in the NCAA over the past two decades. His 24 minutes of court time were the fewest needed for a 50-point game over the past 20 seasons, while his 80 percent shooting clip was the best for a 50-point game over that same timespan.

The Big Sky weekly honor is the first of his career.

In the process, Eastern Washington set the league’s single-game scoring record. The Eagles surpassed their previous mark of 130 set in a triple overtime win against Portland State on Feb. 4, 2017. Weber State also reached 130 points in a rout of West Coast Baptist last month.

Eastern Washington’s 59 made field goals set a new conference record, breaking Weber State’s 55 field goals made against Chaminade on Feb. 10, 1975.

Other Nominees: Ian Burke, Portland State; Chris Bowling, Northern Arizona; John Knight III, Southern Utah; Brandon Davis, Sacramento State; Jonah Radebaugh, Northern Colorado; Trevon Allen, Idaho
