#BigSkyFB Playoff Teams Shine in Coaches’ Poll
FARMINGTON, Utah (November 25, 2019) – It’s no surprise that the Big Sky has all four of its teams in the Top 10 of the AFCA FCS Coaches’ Poll as the regular season closed out play last Saturday. With a week off before the second round of the playoffs, the Big Sky continues to garner national media attention.
Sacramento State’s 27-17 win versus UC Davis helped the Hornets match their school-high ranking of No. 3 that it received on Sunday by STATS FCS. The Hornets (9-3) earned a share of the Big Sky title – their first in school history – and a school record seven conference wins and nine overall victories.
Weber State's 38-10 win over Idaho State gave the Wildcats the Big Sky’s automatic bid to the FCS Playoffs and a share of the conference title for the third straight season. The Wildcats (9-3) jumped up three spots to No. 4 this week in the coaches’ poll.
Montana State’s Brawl of the Wild win helped the Bobcats improve to nine wins on the season. Montana State defeated then-No. 3 Montana 48-14 to go from No. 8 to No. 5 this week in the rankings.
Montana dropped its game at ranked Montana State, but was able to maintain a top-10 ranking. The Grizzlies (9-3) will enter the playoffs with a No. 8 ranking in the both the STATS FCS and AFCA Coaches’ Polls. It’s the first nine-win season for the Griz since 2014.
Eastern Washington (7-5) received nine votes in the poll.
