Weber State, Sacramento State Share Big Sky Title, Wildcats Earn Big Sky’s Automatic Bid to FCS Playoffs
FARMINGTON, Utah (November 23, 2019) – The Weber State Wildcats have earned the Big Sky’s automatic bid to the 2019 NCAA Division I Football Championships.
Weber State clinched a share of the league crown after a 38-10 win over Idaho State at home. The Wildcats finished league play with a 7-1 mark en route to its third straight conference title and fourth consecutive FCS playoff appearance. Weber State beat Sacramento State in head-to-head competition to win the tiebreaker.
Sacramento State trailed by as many as 14 points in the first half, before outscoring UC Davis 17-0 in the second half to earn the 27-17 win and a share of the Big Sky title - the first in school history.
The Wildcats, Hornets and more Big Sky teams will be waiting for tomorrow's playoff field announcement to determine who their next opponents will be. The league entered the week with Weber State, Sacramento State, Montana, and Montana State all ranked in the Top 25 of the FCS polls.
