Big Sky Conference to Launch League of Legends Season Presented by Idaho Central Credit Union
FARMINGTON, Utah (November 22, 2019) – The Big Sky Conference, in conjunction with Riot Games, will launch the inaugural League of Legends season presented by Idaho Central Credit Union.
The nine-week season will begin on February 1
st. Teams will play a single round-robin format for the first six weeks of the season before playing in an eight team, single-elimination bracket to determine the Big Sky champion. The quarterfinals begin on March 15
th with the championship taking place on Sunday, March 29
th. The winner of the single-elimination bracket will receive a Big Sky team championship trophy and will also receive an automatic bid to the Collegiate League of Legends Postseason Tournament.
The Big Sky school that receives the automatic bid will have the opportunity to earn scholarship money through Riot Games for the players on the team depending on how far the team advances in the Postseason Tournament. Thirty-two teams receive a bid to the Collegiate League of Legends Postseason Tournament and the top eight teams are flown to Los Angeles to compete live for the championship. The Collegiate League of Legends Postseason Tournament starts in April and lasts into June each year.
