GREELEY, Colo. (November 2, 2019) – Northern Arizona won the 2019 Big Sky Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships that were held at the Boomerang Golf Course in Greeley, Colo. It’s the 17
th time in conference history that the Lumberjacks swept the team awards.
The top individual and freshman on the men’s side was NAU’s Drew Bosley. He recorded a time of 26:50.8 finishing five seconds ahead of the field. Bosley is the fourth straight Lumberjack to win the individual crown.
Bosley led a Lumberjack group that claimed the top three spots with Geordie Beamish and Brodey Hasty finishing with times of 26:55.7 and 26:56.2. Ryan Raff added a sixth-place finish with a time of 27:06.2, while Jack Shea rounded out NAU’s top five with a 12
th place showing in a time of 27:26.6. It was the fourth straight title for the defending national champions.
Weber State placed second on the men’s side with 40 points for its sixth straight top 3 finish. Montana State tallied 74 points for third place for its best finish since 2013.
Montana State’s Camila Noe earned the women’s top freshman and individual honor as she raced to a time of 17:41.3. Noe is the first Bobcat in 27 years to bring home the top honor, as she crossed the line 34 seconds ahead of second place.
The Lumberjack women, who entered the race ranked 11
th in the nation, have now won three of the last four Big Sky titles. NAU was
led by Mikayla Malaspina, who placed second with a time of 18:15.3. Pipi Eitel raced to a time of 18:21.3 for fifth place, while Taryn O’Neill was right on her heels with a time of 18:21.9. Miranda Myers earned all-conference honors with a time of 18:36.4. Bryn Morley finished in 14
th place with a time of 18:57.1 to complete the top scorers for the Lumberjacks.
The Idaho women placed second – its highest finish since 1993. Last year’s champion Southern Utah edged out Weber State for third place by one point with 93.
The NCAA Mountain Regional will be held at the Rose Park Golf Course in Salt Lake City, Utah on Nov. 9, while the NCAA West Regional will be held the following week on Nov. 15 at the Colfax Golf Club in Pullman, Wash.
