Madan, Yongyuan Tabbed Big Sky Co-Women’s Golfers of the Week

FARMINGTON, Utah (October 9, 2019) – Sacramento State’s Nishtha Madan and Southern Utah’s Chanikan (Pluem) Yongyuan have both been named the Big Sky Conference Women’s Golf Player of the Week, announced today by the league office.

Madan, a senior for the Hornets, led Sacramento State at the Princess Anne Invitational in Virginia Beach, Va. Madan shot a two-over 212 (71, 72, 69) for the tournament, with her best round coming in the third with a one-under 69 that included three birdies and one eagle. Madan also competed in the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational and was on top of the leaderboard in first place with an even 144 (74, 70) after two rounds, with the third round not being played due to inclement weather.

Yongyuan, a sophomore for the Thunderbirds, led Southern Utah at the New Mexico State Aggie Invitational in Las Cruces, N.M. Yongyuan shot a two-over 218 (70, 74, 74) to finish tied for 5th overall. This marks 12 career top-10 finishes for the sophomore.

It is the second weekly honor of the season for Madan and the third of her career and the second of the season for Yongyuan and an impressive seventh weekly honor of her career.

Next up for Sacramento State is the Rainbow Wahine Invitational from Oct. 28-30 in Oahu, Hawaii and for Southern Utah is the GCU Invitational from Feb. 22-23 in Phoenix, Ariz. to kick off their spring season.
