OGDEN, Utah (January 29, 2019) – Northern Colorado’s Savannah Smith has been named this week’s #BigSkyWBB Ready Nutrition Player of the Week.

This week Smith averaged 24.5 points on 20-of-43 shooting from the field and added an average of 4.5 assists, and 2.0 steals.

Northern Colorado returned to first place in the Big Sky behind a pair of big games from Smith, and more accurately a pair of big quarters from the redshirt senior guard.

Smith had a big second quarter for Northern Colorado against Southern Utah after the team came out sluggish against SUU. She scored seven points in the quarter on 3-of-4 shooting while assisting on three more of the team’s 10 baskets to take the lead and never relinquish it in a 71-44 win. She finished the game as the team’s leading scorer with 19 points while adding in six of the Bears 19 assists.

The third quarter against Northern Arizona was the Savannah Smith show. Smith went off for 22 of her 30 points in the third quarter, including scoring the team's first 18 points in a span of 4:29. She started the third by making her first eight field goal attempts including going 4-for-4 from behind the arc. By the end of the quarter, Smith was 9-for-11 from the field including 4-of-6 from 3-point range. She finished the game with her third 30-point performance of the season.

This is the second time this season that Smith has earned player of the week honors from the conference.
