SUU's Tamagnone Earns #BigSkyTennis Men's Player of the Week Nod

OGDEN, Utah (January 23, 2019) – Southern Utah sophomore Agustin Tamagnone compiled a 5-1 overall record to open the 2019 season last week and earn Big Sky Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week accolades.

Tamagnone powered the Thunderbirds to a 2-1 start to the season with wins over Austin Peay (6-1) and Cumberland (7-0) in Tennessee last weekend.

The native of Rio Tercero, Cordoba, Argentina finished 2-1 in singles play at No. 3 with victories over Austin Peay’s Timo Kiesslich, 6-2, 6-3, and Cumberland’s Alejo Bagnera, 6-3, 6-0. His lone loss on the weekend came in a 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 setback to Belmont’s Joan Valy.

In doubles play, Tamagnone teamed up with Keonho Shin for a perfect 3-0 mark playing on courts two and three.

The Big Sky Player of the Week honor is the first of his career.
