CHARLESTON, S.C. (August 22, 2018) - College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) announced its 2018 preseason watch list for the CFPA FCS National Performer of the Year Trophy. Six Big Sky football players were named to the watch list. A total of thirty-six returning performers from the Football Championship Subdivision made the list.

The 2018 preseason watch list includes two previous winners: Northern Arizona quarterback Case Cookus, who won it in 2015 as a freshman, and North Dakota State quarterback Easton Stick (2017 winner).

Joining Cookus on the watch list are four Big Sky quarterbacks in Eastern Washington’s Gage Gubrud, Idaho State’s Tanner Gueller, Sacramento State’s Kevin Thomson, and UC Davis’ Jake Maier. UC Davis wide receiver Keelan Doss is the only-non QB in the league named to the watch list.

The 2018 CFPA FCS National Performer of the Year Trophy is a 22-inch K-9 optic crystal tower with an eight-inch crystal football on top. All FCS players are eligible for the award. The award winner will be announced January 9, 2019.
