Hornets’ Sutherland Named Jeff Smith Coach of the Year
OGDEN, Utah (May 7, 2018) – The 2018 Big Sky Jeff Smith Women’s Golf Coach of the Year award has been given to Sacramento State’s David Sutherland, the conference office announced today.
The award is the second straight coach of the year honor for Sutherland.
Sacramento State was the only Big Sky team to have two players named to the All-Conference team and led all schools with five honorees. Every Hornet finished in the top 20, including a trio in the top 10, the only league school to do so.
The Hornets, who finished second overall at the Big Sky Championship, had two players named to the Big Sky All-Tournament team. The Hornets also had the Big Sky Freshman of the Year on their team in Corinne Viden.
Sacramento State recorded the top four 18-hole round scores heading into the championship and the top three 54-hole round scores.
