OGDEN, Utah (December 4, 2018) – The Big Sky Conference has announced its athletes of the week. Northern Arizona’s Tyler Day was named the league Men’s Track honoree, while Keshun McGee of Eastern Washington earned Men’s Field accolades. Montana State’s Kelsi Lasota was named the Women’s Track honoree, while Montana’s Erika McLeod earned Women’s Field honors.

NAU Senior Tyler Day placed first at the Bobcat Preview to be named the men’s track athlete of the week. Fresh off his third national cross country team championship, the senior distance runner bested the field by 23 seconds to earn the victory in the 5,000 meters with a time of 14:02.09.

Eastern Washington’s Keshun McGee, a junior from Bremerton, Wash., captured a pair of first place finishes at the EWU Candy Cane X. McGee leaped to a mark of 51-03.75 to win the triple jump and earned gold in the long jump with a mark of 24-07.25 to pick up weekly field honors on the men’s side.

Montana State’s Kelsi Lasota, a senior from Estes Park, Colo., shined in the 5,000 meters at the Bobcat Preview to earn women’s track weekly honors. Lasota finished the race in a time of 17:15.66, which converted to 16:40.89 due to track size and altitude, was less than a second away from her personal best. Her converted time is the fastest in the Big Sky Conference so far this season.

Montana’s Erika McLeod redshirted the 2018 season but made it all worth it in her return to the track. The senior won the 55-meter hurdles at the Candy Cane X in a time of 8.32 and took second in the long jump with a leap of 18-06.50 to earn the field honors. McLeod’s most impressive performance was her score of 3,891 points in the pentathlon. It was a meet and Thorpe Fieldhouse record, and narrowly missed the Montana school record (3,969). Of the five events, she won four of them.
