FULL RELEASE

EASTERN WASHINGTON
  • Did not play in any games this week but will get back on the hardwood to open conference play on Saturday against Weber State.
  • Violet Kapri Morrow is fourth in the Big Sky in scoring averaging 17 points per game. Morrow also leads the team in rebounds averaging 6.6 per game.
IDAHO
  • Fell to nationally ranked Gonzaga 88-51 to close out their nonconference schedule.
  • The Vandals will kick off conference play on Saturday against instate rival Idaho State.
  • Mikayla Ferenz is still tops in the conference in points averaging 21.4 per game.
IDAHO STATE
  • Idaho State takes on in-state rival Idaho on Saturday to kick off conference play.
  • Has the best field goal percentage mark in the league shooting 43.4 percent.
  • Is also fifth in the league in field goal percentage defense holding opponents to 40.1 percent shooting. One of two teams in the conference to be top five in the league in both categories.
MONTANA
  • Participated in an exhibition contest with Montana Tech to close out their non-conference schedule. The Grizzlies won in dominating fashion, 81-49.
  • Currently ranks fourth in the conference in scoring offense with and average of 64.9 points per game.
  • Abby Anderson is averaging 1.5 blocks per game which is good for fourth best in the conference this season.
MONTANA STATE
  • Opens up Big Sky play at home against Southern Utah on Saturday, December 29th.
  • Lost to South Dakota State in their final non-conference game of the season 88-67.
  • Claire Lundberg is second in the conference in total points this season with 184, which also ranks her third in points per game with an average of 18.4.
NORTHERN ARIZONA
  • Lost to Arizona 71-47 in their final non-conference game of the season.
  • Caitlin Malvar leads the conference in three-point percentage, making 40.5 percent of her attempts.
NORTHERN COLORADO
  • Faced BYU in their lone game this past week and were defeated 70-50.
  • Ali Meyer currently leads the conference in total rebounds this season with 103 and is averaging 11.4 per game which places her second in the conference in that category.
  • Has the second best scoring defense in the conference and is holding opponents to 37.4 percent shooting per game this season.
PORTLAND STATE
  • The Vikings saw their eight game win streak come to an end this week when the were defeated 73-68 by UC Irvine in their only game this week.
  • Rank near the top of the conference in scoring offense and defense. The Vikings are second in offense and average 75.8 points per game, while on defense they lead the league and hold opponents to an average of 56.7 points per game.
  • Kylie Jimenez led the team against UC Irvine and scored 28 points on 10- of-19 shooting and her performance was good enough to get her named the Big Sky Ready Nutrition Player of the Week.
SACRAMENTO STATE
  • Played in two games at the Lobo Invitational. The Hornets dropped their first game to the hosts New Mexico 85-53. Sacramento State turned around the next night and defeated Hampton 65-61.
  • The Hornets currently lead the conference in scoring offense and are averaging 79.1 points per game this season.
  • Hannah Friend is tied for first in points per game this season with an average of 21.4.
SOUTHERN UTAH
  • Finished out their non-conference with a 88-53 loss to Boise State on the road.
  • The Thunderbirds have been actve on defense this season and as a team rank third in the conference in steals per game with 8.9 take aways.
  • Harley Hansen and Rebecca Cardenas both rank in the top five in the conference in steals per game.
WEBER STATE
  • Played a pair of games this week and suffered a loss in both games. The Wildcats were defeated by in-state opponent Utah Valley 65-59 and then finished the week with a 71-39 defeat at the hands of UC Riverside.
  • Jaiamoni Welch-Coleman finds herself in the top of the conference in eight different statistical categories. Welch-Coleman currently leads the conference in assists and has 57 of them this season.
  • Weber State opens up conference play this Saturday when they host Eastern Washington.
