OGDEN, Utah (November 5, 2018) - Idaho’s Sarah Sharp and Northern Arizona’s Jordan Anderson were recognized as the #BigSkyVB Players of the Week. Sharp was named the Offensive Player of the Week, while Anderson earned Defensive Player of the Week recognition.
Sarah Sharp, a senior outside hitter from Filer, Idaho, extended Idaho’s winning streak to 10 games with a pair of wins over Portland State and Sacramento State. The Vandal victory over Sacramento State marked the first Big Sky regular season home game the Hornets have lost since Nov. 15, 2014. On the week, Sharp recorded 42 total kills with an average of 4.67 kills per set while hitting .340. Sharp currently ranks third in the conference for kills per set (3.94) since the start of league play.
Anderson, a senior libero from Phoenix, Ariz., was once again stout in the back row, and moved up yet another spot in NAU’s all-time career digs list with a solid defensive week in NAU’s two victories over Montana and Montana State on the road. Anderson averaged 6.57 digs per set and totaled 46 digs in two matches, while helping the Lumberjacks lock down both the Grizzlies and the Bobcats. NAU’s two opponents hit just .128 combined. NAU’s libero posted match-highs of 25 digs against Montana and 21 digs against Montana State to lead all players, while also totaling four service aces – three of which came in Thursday’s victory in Missoula. On Saturday versus the Bobcats, Anderson moved into third all-time in program history as she finished the match with 1,315 career digs. She is also just seven digs shy of becoming only the third player in program history to post 500 digs in a season.
