Southern Utah's Oluyitan Tabbed #BigSkyMBB Ready Nutrition Player of the Week

OGDEN, Utah (November 13, 2018) – Southern Utah junior guard/forward Cameron Oluyitan has been named the Big Sky Conference Men’s Basketball Ready Nutrition Player of the Week after pacing the Thunderbirds to a historic 2-0 start last week.

Oluyitan averaged 17.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.5 steals, 3.0 steals and 1.0 blocks per game on the week as Southern Utah started 2-0 for the first time since the 2006-07 season. He shot 58 percent from the field in his two outings. 

In a season-opening win over West Coast Baptist on Tuesday, the Sugar Land, Texas product finished with 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the field. He connected on three baskets from long range while adding four assists, three rebounds, three steals and one block to his stat line in the 109-63 victory.

The Thunderbirds collected their first road win over a Mountain West Conference opponent since 2006 in a 66-59 victory over San Jose State on Saturday. Oluyitan paced Southern Utah with 15 points while grabbing five rebounds. He also totaled a team-high four steals and added two assists and a block.
 
Oluyitan is the first Southern Utah men’s basketball player to garner player of the week honors since Randy Onwuasor on Jan. 2, 2017.
 
Oluyitan is in his first season competing for Southern Utah after playing the 2016-17 season at Boise State.
