OGDEN, Utah (March 23, 2017) - The last remaining #BigSkyWBB team in action saw their season end Thursday, as the Idaho Vandals dropped a road WBI semifinal to the Rice Owls.
Rice outlasted Idaho, 86-80, using an advantage in the paint to overcome the Vandals. The Owls outrebounded Idaho, 40-24, earning 14 offensive rebounds. Off this, Rice scored 16 second-chance points.
The Owls led 25-18 after the opening period, before Idaho went on a run in the second quarter, trailing 44-43 at halftime. However, the Owls went on another run in the third quarter, taking an eight point lead into the final quarter.
Mikayla Ferenz led the Vandals with 26 points, while Taylor Pierce contributed 23 points.
