OGDEN, Utah (February 6, 2017) -
With the Big Sky Indoor Track & Field Championships looming more and more, teams enter a highly-competitive weekend in the NCAA scene, with seven teams heading to their final meets prior to conference.

- Ten teams were active last weekend, with four dualing at Idaho and the another three dualing in Bozeman. Montana State earned a sweep against Idaho State and Weber State. In Moscow, the meet-host Idaho men and Montana women won each of the Division I duals. Northern Arizona resumed action hosting the Mountain T’s Invitational, and made two new marks in the Big Sky record books. NAU’s Brooke Andersen set the new conference record in the weight throw, while Shanice McPherson set the seventh-best long jump mark in Big Sky history.

- As Big Sky teams continue to jock for depth on conference performance lists, 10 teams own conference-leading marks while NAU, MSU, UM and Eastern Washington each own at least five. Top-10 marks in the league continue to feed towards the battle for scoring implications, led by MSU with 42 and Montana and NAU each with 40.

- One of the most highly-anticipated weekends during the indoor season is on the horizon this weekend, as all 12 teams are active and seven will make their final appearances prior to tapering for the Big Sky meet. Three high-caliber meets will have multiple conference teams in attendance. Half of the league will be represented at the prestigious Husky Classic, while four more will be at Idaho State’s Mountain State Games and New Mexico’s Don Kirby Invitational. NAU will also send athletes to the Iowa State Classic.

- The third go-around of USTFCCCA regional rankings went out today, with 15 Big Sky programs earning top-15 spots regionally. The MSU men, UM women, EWU men and Sac State women each are the highest ranked Big Sky teams in their regions.

- The league is in its first season without qualifying standards. Coaches will be able to fill rosters for the conference championships however they please within the roster limits of 26 indoors and 28 outdoors. The Big Sky Indoor Championships in Pocatello, Idaho, are just over two weeks away.
