OGDEN, Utah (February 20, 2017) – The #RoadToReno continues with just two weeks left in the Big Sky Conference men’s basketball regular season. This weekend’s action should be exciting as four first-round byes at the upcoming conference tournament are still up for grabs.
Brawl of the Wild – Montana State will look to extend its five-game home winning streak as the Bobcats welcome rival Montana to Bozeman on Saturday. The Grizzlies won the first meeting on February 4 in Missoula 90-84. This meeting will have a little more on the line besides bragging rights as both teams hold 14-14 overall records and are tied for fourth in the Big Sky standings with 9-6 conference marks.
MSU’s Tyler Hall has already climbed into the Bobcat and Big Sky record books. His 101 3-pointers this season ranks 12
th in league history (one behind No. 11 Jeremy Senglin) and broke his own school record. His 638 points this season ranks in school history, and is tied for 29th in the Big Sky.
Clinching – North Dakota (17-8, 12-3 BSC) is the only team that has clinched a first-round bye in the upcoming Big Sky tournament. The Fighting Hawks will start tournament play on Thursday, March 9. This season, five teams will earn a first-round bye in the conference championship and seven teams are still in the hunt for one of the four remaining byes.
