No.7 Weber State vs. No. 2 North Dakota - The first match of the Big Sky Volleyball Championships was a thriller as North Dakota topped Weber State 3-1. North Dakota was pushed over the top by its middle blocker corps. Senior Faith Dooley had 11 kills and nine blocks, maiking her the all-time Big Sky block leader with 661. Junior Jordan Vail supplied another 13 kills and six blocks. Weber State was led by junior outside hitter Andrea Hale, who had a match-high 24 kills.
No. 6 Idaho State vs. No. 3 Idaho - The Vandals cruised to a sweep of in-state rival Idaho State in the first round of the #BigSkyVB Championships. Idaho hit an impressive .429 in the match. Junior outside hitter Sarah Sharp slammed home 17 kills with an efficient hitting percentage of .351.
No. 5 Northern Arizona vs. No. 4 Portland State - Northern Arizona came out with something to prove, getting the first-set win and dropping 8 service aces on the Vikings in the opening frame. However, Portland State responded with three-straight victories to push the Vikings into the #BigSkyVB semifinals. Caitlin Bettenay was key in the Vikings Victory, logging 16 kills on the night.
No. 8 Northern Colorado vs. No. 1 Sacramento State - The Bears of Northern Colorado would not go quietly. It took two comebacks in the third and fourth sets to put Northern Colorado away. The Hornets trailed 15-11 in the third stanza and even overcame a 23-18 deficit in the fourth to avoid a five-set match. Sacramento State junior Skyler Takeda served 11-straight points in the fourth frame to push the hornets into the semifinals.

No. 3 Idaho vs. No. 2 North Dakota - Idaho took the first set with outside hitters Sarah Sharp and Kaela Straw killing four balls a piece. North Dakota surged ahead in set two with a 25-17 victory to even up the match 1-1. North Dakota's middle blockers were solid once again as senior Faith Dooley and junior Jordan Vail led the Fighting Hawks to victory in the next two sets to send North Dakota to the #BigSkyVB Championship match. Dooley and Vail each had a match-high 14 kills, with Dooley hitting an outstanding .632. Senior setter Sydney Griffin facilitated the ball well for UND, dishing out 46 assists and digging 15 balls to get the Double-Double.
No. 4 Portland State vs. No. 1 Sacramento State - Sacramento State was in jeopardy of losing the first set, but Brie Gathright's 6 kills and .857 hitting percentage sparked a 6-0 Hornet run to close out the set 26-24.. Portland State lost the second set aswell, but Toni McDougald's team-high 13 kills and 11 digs led the Hornets to a third-set win. However, the Vikings couldn't hold off the Hornets in set four as senior setter Kennedy Kurtz found several weapons to work with, including sophomore outside hitter Sarah Davis. Davis recorded a match-high 16 kills with a .368 hitting percentage to win the set and the match. Sacramento State will play North Dakota in tomorrows #BigSkyVB Championship match at 8:05 p.m. (PT). North Dakota and Sacramento State have met just once this season, with Sacramento State winning that match 3-2.
