Weber State Advances To #BigSkySB Championship Game

OGDEN, Utah (May 13, 2016) –
No. 1 seed Weber State moved on the championship game of the 2016 Big Sky Conference Softball Championship presented by Red Lion® Hotels thanks to a 6-0 win over No. 3 Idaho State.
 
Weber State picked up the win on the back of a solid pitching performance by Kirtyln Bohling. The Big Sky first team honoree pitched seven innings of two-hit softball with two strikeouts and no walks. Sophie Slagle was the losing pitcher in two innings of work.
 
Weber State got three runs to start the game thanks to a 3-run homerun by Sara Hingsberger. Aubrey Whitmer knocked a two-run homer to center tin the top of the third to make it a 5-0 game. WSU added one more in the fifth to take a 6-0 lead.
 
JaeCie Wilson went a perfect 2-for-2 with a pair of runs while Whitmer went 2-for-4.
 
Weber State will face the winner of tomorrow’s opening game in the de facto Big Sky Championship. The Wildcats can earn their second straight conference tournament title with a win.
