No. 3 Idaho State Defeats No. 6 Portland State 12-0 In #BigSkySB Tournament Action

OGDEN, Utah (May 12, 2016) –
Idaho State’s Kacie Burnett went 3-for-3 with four RBIs and three runs as the No. 3 seed Bengals topped No. 6 seed Portland State 12-0 in five innings in the opening round of the 2016 Big Sky Conference Softball Championship presented by Red Lion® Hotels.
 
Idaho State put six runs on the board in the bottom of the first. Burnett got the scoring streak started with a two-RBI triple to left center. The Bengals added a run in the bottom of the second when Alex Portesi drove in Burnett.
 
Micheala Taylor and Katelyn Marquez both went 2-for-4 with two runs for ISU. Marquez added a RBI as well.
 
Sophie Slagle improved to 13-8 on the year as she picked up the five-inning shutout for ISU. The right-hander allowed just four hits and two walks in the contest.
 
Lindsey Shealee led the Vikings offensively with two hits in three at-bats.
 
Idaho Sate moves on to face No. 2 Sacramento State in Thursday’s final game at approximately 5 p.m. Mountain. Portland State will face either Weber State or Montana on Friday at 9:30 a.m.
