RENO, Nev. (March 8, 2016) – It was a thrilling finish to the third game of the opening round at the Big Sky Conference men’s basketball championship. In the end, No. 10 Sacramento State held on for a 79-75 win over No. 7 seeded Montana State.
Sacramento State will face No. 2 seed Montana in the quarterfinals on Thursday. Tip-off is slated for 5:35 p.m. Pacific.
Justin Strings scored 25 points on 8-of-16 shooting including 4-of-6 from behind the arc. Cody Demps added 15 points on 5-of-11 shooting. As a team, the Hornets shot 44.2 percent including 47 percent from 3-point territory.
Tyler Hall led Montana State with 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting. In all, four Bobcats scored in double figures with Sarp Gobelogu coming off the bench to add 16 points.
