Bolomboy Named Big Sky Men's Basketball MVP, Defensive Player Of The Year

All-Conference Teams Announced

All-Conference Team 
 
OGDEN, Utah (March 7, 2016) – Weber State’s Joel Bolomboy earned the 2015-16 Big Sky Conference Men’s Basketball Most Valuable Player, Defensive Player of the Year, and a unanimous First Team All-Conference selection in voting conducted by the league’s coaches.
 
This was Bolomboy’s first conference MVP award and his second career Defensive Player of the Year nod. The senior led the conference and is among the nation’s top rebounders with 12.8 boards per contest. He is also among the top three players in the nation in double-doubles with 24 thus far this season.
 
Idaho State’s Ethan Telfair was named the league’s Top Newcomer after averaging 20.3 points per game and a league-best 5.5 assists and 2.2 steals during the regular season. The Coney Island, N.Y. native transferred to ISU from Redlands Community College.
 
Montana State’s Tyler Hall was named the league’s Most Outstanding Freshman and picked up second team All-Big Sky honors. Hall finished the regular season ranked second in the conference in 3-point field goal percentage (.438) and fifth in scoring with 18.7 points per game.
 
Bolomboy was joined on the first team by Telfair, who also received a unanimous selection. Eastern Washington senior Venky Jois picked up his second straight first team selection and his fourth All-Conference award for his career. North Dakota’s Quinton Hooker, Montana senior Martin Breunig picked up his second straight first-team honor and was a unanimous selection, and Weber State junior Jeremy Senglin rounded out the first team selections.
 
Portland State’s Cameron Forte headed the All-Big Sky second team. The PSU center was joined by Idaho’s Victor Sanders, Eastern Washington’s Austin McBroom, and the Montana State duo of Hall and Marcus Colbert.
 
Idaho State’s Geno Luzcando, Montana’s Walter Wright, Northern Colorado’s Anthony Johnson, and Sacramento State’s Justin Strings picked up All-Big Sky Honorable Mention honors.
