SALT LAKE CITY (March 18, 2016) - After falling in heart-breaking fashion in the Big Sky tournament, the Montana State Bobcats were hoping to erase the sick taste of defeat with one more game.
Unfortunately for the Bobcats, the Pac-12's Utah Utes had other thoughts, with the Utes running to a 95-61 win over Montana State in the opening round of the WNIT in Salt Lake City.
The Bobcats shot just 30.8 percent (20-of-65) from the field, making just 4-of-13 attempts from three-point range. Conversely, Utah shot fifty percent from the field, including making 14-of-29 three-point attempts, to advance to a second round matchup with Gonzaga.
Peyton Ferris led Montana State with 15 points and ten rebounds, while Riley Nordgaard contributed 11 points.
The Bobcats close the season with a record of 21-10, after winning the Big Sky regular season title.
