ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (March 16, 2016) - The Weber State Wildcats earned their first win in a non-conference tourney postseason tournament in over three decades, dispatching the New Mexico Lobos, 75-67, in the opening round of the Women's Basketball Invitational.

The Wildcats outscored the Lobos, 44-31, in the second half, shooting over 50 percent (17-of-32). The second-half offensive success helped Weber overcome a 36-31 deficit, after New Mexico led 18-14 at the end of the first quarter.

The three-point line proved to be a great advantage for Weber State, as the Wildcats made 11-of-28 three-pointers. Conversely, the Lobos made just 3-of-13.

Weber State had four scorers finish in double figures, with Deeshyra Thomas leading the way with 20 points. Emily Drake contributed 15 points for the Wildcats.

The Wildcats have advanced to the second round, where they will face the winner of a game Thursday between Big Sky foe North Dakota, and Grand Canyon of the Western Athletic Conference.
