Idaho Tops Eastern Washington In Big Sky Quarterfinals

RENO, Nev. (March 10, 2016) –
The Big Sky Conference semifinals are now set as No. 3 Idaho topped No. 6 Eastern Washington 77-73 Thursday night at the Reno Events Center. The Vandals will face the No. 2 seed Montana tomorrow at approximately 8:05 p.m. Pacific.
 
Idaho led 41-37 at the half with Sanders leading the way with 12 points on 3-of-4 shooting from 3-point range.
 
In the closing minute of the game, EWU’s Felix Von Hoffe knocked down a 3-pointer to cut the Idaho lead to three points. Perrion Callandret hit a free throw with 11 seconds left that sealed the win for the Vandals.
 
Nate Sherwood led the Vandals with 19 points on 9-of-10 shooting and eight rebounds. Victor Sanders hit four 3-pointers on and went a perfect 5-of-5 at the free-throw line to finish the night with 17 points.
 
Venky Jois had a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds in his last Big Sky tournament appearance. Von Hoffe went 5-for-13 from the floor including 4-for-12 from behind the arc to finish with 17 points.
