OGDEN, Utah (February 8, 2016) –
With a month left before the Big Sky Men’s Basketball Championship, the race for tournament seeds is heating up. Montana and Weber State continue to hold the top two spots in the conference standings but the battle for the two other first round byes couldn’t be more exciting.

Standings Watch: Five teams sit within three games of conference leader, Montana (74-8, 9-2 BSC) with two teams currently tied for third in the conference standings in Eastern Washington and North Dakota. The top four teams at the top of the Big Sky table at season’s end receive first-round byes at the upcoming conference tournament.

Notable Players:
Venky Jois (EWU) -- Jois only the third player in the 53-year history of the Big Sky Conference to have more than 1,600 points and 900 rebounds in his career, is inching closer to the EWU career scoring record. Now with 1,641 points as an Eagle, he is exactly 100 points behind the school record of 1,741 held by Ron Cox (1974-77). His point total is currently 16th in Big Sky history, just five from moving into 15th, 22 from 14th and 32 from the No. 13 position. He is also 22 blocks away from the all-time Big Sky record of 247.

Tyler Hall (MSU) - Tyler Hall’s 25 points Saturday secured MSU’s all-time single-season scoring record for a freshman, makes him the fastest Bobcat to 400 points (he had already become the fastest to 100, 200 and 300), and gives him eight of MSU’s top 10 single-game scoring totals for a freshman (all per available records).

Isaiah Pineiro (PSU) - Pineiro had 31 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals as the Vikings split a pair of games last week. Pineiro scored 22 points, hitting 7-12 from the field and 8-9 at the line, in the win over Montana State.
He scored nine points (3-5, 3-3) with five rebounds and two steals against Montana.
