OGDEN, Utah (November 1, 2016) –
The Big Sky Conference has announced its 2016 women’s soccer All-Conference team and individual award winners.  The selections were made in a vote by the league’s 11 head coaches Monday morning. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own players.

Eastern Washington’s Chloe Williams was named the league’s Offensive MVP for the second straight year. The junior also picked up the league’s Golden Boot award for leading the conference in points (assists and goals) during league play. Sacramento State’s Rachel Leonard earned this year’s Defensive MVP nod while Montana’s Kailey Norman was named Goalkeeper of the Year.

In a rare three-way tie, Idaho’s Emma Eddy, Sacramento State’s Mikayla Reed and Weber State’s Paige Stevens shared the Top Newcomer honor.

Williams, a junior from Spokane Washington, has been the league’s top offensive player throughout the season. The Eagle forward leads the conference with 14 goals to go along with five assists.  She also leads the Big Sky in shots (81) and shots per game (4.5). She is the all-time leading goal scorer at Eastern Washington and is on pace to become the conference’s leading scorer next season.

Norman, a senior from Highlands Ranch, Colo., has been the anchor to a very strong Montana defense. The senior leads the Big Sky in goals-against average (0.78) and shutouts (8). As a team, Montana leads the conference with a 0.79 goals against average.

Leonard, a senior from Livermore, Calif., helped lead the Hornets to a No. 2 seed at this week’s upcoming Big Sky Conference tournament. Leonard and the Hornet defense are second in the Big Sky in goals-against average at 0.98. She has also chipped in on the offensive side of the pitch, posting a goal and an assist this season.

Eddy, a freshman from Eugene, Ore., has scored eight goals and recorded one assist in her first season as a Vandal making her the league’s top-scoring freshman. Reed, a freshman out of Auburn, Calif., has dished out a pair of assists for the Hornets and Stevens, a freshman from Willard, Utah, led Weber State with four goals on the year.

The 2016 Big Sky Conference Championship begins Wednesday from the EWU Soccer Complex in Cheney, Wash. Every game from this year’s tournament can be seen live for free on WatchBigSky.com or on the Big Sky Conference app.
