Haluska, Williams Earn Weekly Soccer Honors

OGDEN, Utah (September 15, 2015) – The Big Sky Conference announced the offensive and defensive women’s soccer Players of the Week for the week ending September 13. Portland State goalkeeper, Angela Haluska, earned this week’s Defensive Player of the Week award while Eastern Washington forward, Chloe Williams, picked up the Offensive Player of the Week nod.
 
Haluska, a senior from Clackmas, Ore., led the Vikings to a 1-0 win over Air Force on Sunday. The clean sheet was Haluska’s second of the season and she picked up four saves in the contest. The senior currently ranks eighth in the NCAA in saves with 41 and is averaging 7.5 rejections this season.
 
This is Haluska’s first Player of the Week honor.
 
Williams, a sophomore from Spokane, Wash., put up big scoring numbers last week. The forward posted blasted four goals in three games last week with a pair of assists and seven shots on goal.
 
Williams scored a goal and garnered an assist in the Eagles’ 2-1 non-conference win over Idaho on September 7. She followed with the game winner in EWU’s 2-1 victory over Valparaiso on Friday and scored a brace in the team’s 4-2 win over Green Bay on Sunday. Williams is currently second in the Big Sky with seven goals. Eastern Washington is currently riding a three-game winning streak.
 
This is her second career weekly honor and her first of the 2015 campaign.
 
Eastern Washington returns to action tomorrow for a road game at Illinois-Chicago. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Central.
 
PSU will make the short trip to Eugene, Ore., to face Oregon on Friday at 7 p.m. Pacific. The game can be seen on the PAC-12 Network.
