OGDEN, Utah (August 25, 2015) – The 2015 Big Sky soccer season kicked off last week with several Big Sky members taking on nationally-ranked opponents. Weber State fell at No. 5 North Carolina and No. 21 Duke on the road last weekend. No. 22 Arizona State topped Portland State 3-0 in the Vikings season opener.

Eastern Washington got off to a hot start with two wins over the weekend. The Eagles topped the University of Texas – El Paso 2-1 in the season opener on Friday and went on to defeat New Mexico State 2-1 in double-overtime. The back-to-back wins are the best start for EWU in program history.

Montana also started the season unbeaten. After holing Wyoming scoreless in a 0-0 tie on Friday, the Grizzlies showed their offensive skills in a 4-3 overtime win over Indiana State on Sunday. Dani Morris led the Grizzlies with two goals on the weekend.

Highlighting this week’s non-conference action is Northern Colorado’s Thursday clash with Pittsburgh. Northern Arizona hosts Pac-12 foe, Arizona, on Friday while Sacramento State will face regional foes Pacific and San Jose State.
