NAU's Bedortha Named Women's Coach of the Year
OGDEN, Utah (April 27, 2015) - Northern Arizona’s Brad Bedortha has been selected by his peers as the 2014-15 Women’s Golf Coach of the Year.
Bedortha became the second coach in league history to win the honor at least three times. Bedortha previously won the honor in 2009 and 2013. Former Portland State coach Felicia Johnson won Coach of the Year four times.
Bedortha, who has coached the Lumberjacks at eight Big Sky Conference Championships, led his program to the team title last week at the Ocotillo Golf Resort in Chandler, Ariz.
Northern Arizona finished the 54-hole Big Sky Championship with a total score of 901. It was Bedortha’s third Big Sky Conference title and the eighth for the program.
The Lumberjacks finished the fall season with a 309.15 strokes per round, which ranked fifth in the conference. NAU turned it around with a strong spring, averaging 302 strokes per round. NAU won the team title at its own Red Rocks Invitational in February.
Northern Arizona will represent the Big Sky at the NCAA West Regional in St. George, Utah, May 7-9.
