EWU's Harvey, PSU's Bamba Share Men's Basketball Player of the Week
OGDEN, Utah (Nov. 18, 2014) - The Big Sky Conference has selected the first men’s basketball Players of the Week for the 2014-15 season. Eastern Washington’s Tyler Harvey and Portland State’s Tiegbe Bamba have selected as Co-Players of the Week.
Bamba, a 6-foot-6 senior forward from Sarcelles, France, scored 19 points with six rebounds, four steals and two assists in Portland State’s 76-68 upset of Southern California on Saturday, Nov. 15. Bamba made 8-of-11 shots from the floor, and was 3-of-3 from the free-throw line. He helped Portland State to just its fifth victory ever over a Pac-12 team. Bamba was playing his first official game for the Vikings after sitting out last season with an injury.
Harvey, a 6-4, 185-pound senior guard from Torrance, Calif., averaged 19.5 points, five rebounds, four assists and one steal per game as the Eagles opened the season with two Division I home wins. Harvey scored 21 points with three rebounds and three assists in an 86-62 win over Texas Southern on Friday, Nov. 14. He was 7-of-12 from 3-point range. In a 75-50 win over Utah Valley on Monday, he scored 18 points with seven rebounds, five assists and two steals. He shot .500 percent from 3-point range for the week. This is Harvey’s third Career Player of the Week honor.
