Meet Information

All 11 Big Sky Conference Track and Field schools will compete at the NCAA West Preliminary Round  in Austin, Texas, May 23-25.
 
A total of 93 athletes have been accepted to compete in Austin, including two relay teams. The men will have 48 athletes and a 4x400 relay team, while the women will have 45 athletes and a 4x100 team competing.
 
The three day meet will begin on Thursday with throwing events starting at 11 a.m. Mountain with the men’s discus and running events will begin at 3:30 p.m.
 
On Friday, the meet will begin at 11 a.m. with the women’s discus and running events will start at 5 p.m. with the 100-meter hurdles.
 
The meet will conclude on Saturday with the men’s javelin starting at 11 a.m. and the running events will begin with the women’s 4x100 meters at 5 p.m.
 
Athletes that rank in the top 12 of their event will move on to Eugene, Ore., June 5-8 to compete at the NCAA Championships.
 
Leading the way in the Big Sky is Northern Arizona’s Diego Estrada. Estrada ranks first in the 5,000 meters with a time of 13:15.33, which was a new Big Sky All-time record. Other men who rank in the top five include, Sacramento State’s Jesse Elvrom ranks fifth in the javelin.
 
On the women’s side, Weber State’s Amber Henry leads the way with a second-place rank in the steeplechase.
 
The women will have a strong showing in the javelin with 10 Big Sky athletes competing in that event. Three rank in the top 10 going into the meet. With Eastern Washington’s Cora Kellerman leading the way ranked sixth, Montana’s Lindsey Hall is seventh, and EWU’s Michelle Coombs is ninth.
