Last Week's Recap...
OGDEN, Utah (March 26, 2013) – With the first weekend of Big Sky conference softball in the books, Portland State, Sacramento State and Weber State top the conference standings with 2-1 records.

On Friday, Portland State split the doubleheader with Southern Utah. The Vikings defeated the Thunderbirds 5-0 in the first game, and SUU defeated PSU 5-4 in the second game.  In the second game, Portland State was ahead 4-1 going into the fifth inning.  SUU scored four runs in the top of the fifth to get the 5-4 win over PSU.  On Saturday, SUU scored three runs in the first inning to go ahead 3-0 over Portland State.  PSU scored two runs in the bottom of the second, one run in the third and two more in the fifth to pull ahead 5-3.  Southern Utah added one more run in the top of the sixth to put the final score at 5-4 for Portland State and gave the Vikings the 2-1 series win over SUU.

On Friday, Sacramento State and Northern Colorado also split. Northern Colorado won the first game 6-3, and SAC was victorious 2-1 in the second.  In the first game, all of the scoring was done in the fifth inning as Northern Colorado scored six runs and Sacramento State scored three.  In the second game, Northern Colorado was up 1-0 going into the fifth inning. Sacramento State scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth to give the Hornets the 2-1 win over the Bears.  On Saturday, after six scoreless innings, Sacramento State scored a game winning walk-off run in the bottom of the seventh inning.  Sac’s Yesenia Alcala drew a two-out, bases-loaded walk to give Sacramento State the 1-0 win over Northern Colorado and gave the Hornets the 2-1 series win over NC.

On Friday, Weber State defeated North Dakota 7-3 and 6-3.  In the first game, Weber State overcame a 3-0 deficit to defeat North Dakota 7-3.  On Saturday, heading into the fifth inning, UND was up 4-3.  UND added five runs in the top of the fifth and two more in the sixth to get an 11-3 lead over WSU.  Weber State added a run in the bottom of the sixth to make it 11-4 for North Dakota. Weber State won the series 2-1 over North Dakota.

Idaho State went 3-1 at the Wolf Pack Classic in Reno, Nev., after defeating Nevada and Santa Clara and losing to Nevada.  On Saturday, Idaho State defeated Nevada and Santa Clara 6-4.  On Sunday, the Bengals beat Santa Clara 12-1 in five innings and lost to Nevada 6-5.  Idaho State will open conference play next week as it travels to Southern Utah.
