SACRAMENTO, Calif. (April 22, 2012) – The Sacramento State men’s tennis team upset the No. 1 seed and undefeated University of Montana 4-0. This marks Sacramento State’s fourth straight and 10th overall Big Sky Conference championship.
In doubles, Sac’s Roy Brandys and Aliaksandr Malko topped UM’s Ben Demarois and Carl Kuschke at No. 1 after Sean Kolar and Tom Miller defeated UM’s Michael Facey and Ethan Vaughn at No. 2. The two wins gave Sacramento State the doubles point.
In singles, Sacramento State (11-12) beat Montana (16-5) in straight sets at the No. 1, No. 6 and No. 3 positions. Sac’s No. 1 Malko defeated UM’s Carl Kuschke 6-2, 6-2. Sac’s No. 6 Tom Miller defeated Andreas Luczak 6-0, 6-3. And Sac’s No. 3 Javier Millan defeated UM’s Andrew Warren 6-1, 6-2 to give the Hornets the 4-0 win over the Grizzlies.
Sacramento State will receive the automatic bid into the NCAA tournament.
