OGDEN, Utah (Jan. 24, 2012) – The Big Sky tennis season has officially begun for both sides as six men’s teams and three women’s teams competed last week.
Weber State women traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada to compete against Pacific, New Mexico State and No. 36 UNLV. The Wildcats lost all three matches. Northern Arizona women took on No. 59 UC Davis but lost 7-0. Northern Colorado men and women both lost 7-0 as they faced Air Force.
Montana State men ended the week 1-2 after beating Portland State, but losing to No. 72 Oregon and Portland. Portland State men also faced No. 72 Oregon but lost 7-0.
Northern Arizona men lost to No. 55 Arizona. Eastern Washington dropped both matches to ranked teams, No. 62 St. Mary’s and No. 49 Boise State. And the Weber State men lost 7-0 to in-state opponent, Utah.
Because of the extreme rain and snow in the Northwest last week, five matches have been postponed. Sacramento State women were supposed to travel to Washington to play Washington and Washington State. Eastern Washington women were supposed to play Portland and Oregon. And Northern Colorado women were supposed to play at Wyoming.
