Sacramento State Sweeps Men’s And Women’s Titles

Sacramento State won both the men’s and women’s titles at the 2011 Big Sky Conference Outdoor Championships sponsored by MONDO USA in Sacramento, Calif.
This is the Hornets' first men’s outdoor title and the women’s fourth straight outdoor title. This is the second time this season that the men and women have swept both titles. Sacramento State won the indoor title this season at Pocatello, Idaho.
This is the first time in Big Sky history a women’s outdoor team has won four consecutive titles and the fourth time a Big Sky team has won four titles in a row. Weber State captured the title from 1998-2002, Northern Arizona won from 1985-1988 and Idaho State won from 1964-1970.

This is the third time in Big Sky history that a men’s and women’s team has swept both indoors and outdoors. Northern Arizona swept in 1990 and Weber State swept in 2002.
Ronald Brookins of Sacramento State finished his career with 102 outdoor points, ranking second all-time behind Weber State's Wiley King (108). Brookins won the long jump, the 110-meter hurdles and finished second in the 100.
The women’s Most Valuable Athlete was Moira Robinson from Sacramento State and the men’s Co-Most Valuable Athletes were Brookins and teammate Emilio Hernandez.
The women’s Outstanding Performer from Sacramento State was Lea Wallace and the men’s Outstanding Performer was Brett Hales from Weber State.
The Sacramento State men finished with 204.5 points. Northern Arizona was second with 167, followed by Montana State (116.50), Eastern Washington (96), Weber State (74), Montana (49.50), Idaho State (44), Northern Colorado (38), Portland State (28.50).
The Sacramento State women finished with 236 points. Montana was second with 133, followed by EWU (79), MSU (73), WSU (66), ISU (65.50), PSU (65), NAU (63) and NC (33.50).
