SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Following the first full day of the 2011 Big Sky Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship, the Sacramento State women and Northern Arizona men are in the lead.

The Sacramento State women have 90 points through eight events. Montana is a distant second with 49 points. The Hornets are seeking their fourth straight championship.

The Northern Arizona men have 66 points through six events. Sacramento State is second with 42 points.

Four Sacramento State women captured championships on Friday. Senior Naima Goodwin won the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, seven inches. Teammate Moria Robinson was second. Robinson, a junior, won the long jump with a mark of 19-9 3/4.

Hornet Emily Kersting won the javelin with a throw of 150-4. Teammate Holly Fraser was second at 145-9.

Senior Ericka Violett of Sacramento State captured the pole vault championship with a mark of 13 feet, 3/4 inches.

Weber State sophomore Sarah Callister won the 10,000 meter run, while Eastern Washington's Erica Chaney claimed the shot put title.

Montana's Kara DeWalt won the 3,000 steeplechase.

On the men's side, Northern Arizona earned 26 points in the 10,000. Junior Ahmed Osman won the event in 28:57.67. Lumberjack teammate's finished third, fourth, sixth and seventh.

Northern Arizona's Andres Rossini picked up 10 points with a win in the discus. Rossini's throw of 189-7 was more than 24 feet better than the second-place throw by Weber State's Ethan Anderson.

NAU is seeking its fourth title in five years.

Sacramento State senior Ronald Brookins added to his impressive resume with a third long jump title. Brookins won with a jump of 25 feet.

Weber State's Brett Hales won the 3,000 steeplechase in 8:42.93. Montana State's David Phillips won the hamer throw by almost 10 feet with a heave of 205-1.
