In Big Sky volleyball action Friday night, Sacramento State defeated Eastern Washington 3-2 (25-21, 24-26, 20-25, 25-22, 15-8), Montana State defeated Weber State 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-20), and Montana defeated Idaho State 3-2 (25-16, 22-25, 25-23, 29-31, 15-13).

The Eagles will be the No. 4 seed in the Big Sky Championships on Friday, Nov. 25, in Portland, Ore., and will play the No. 1 seed Northern Colorado at 5:30 p.m. PST. Sacramento State will compete against Portland State tomorrow for the No. 2 and No. 3 seed.

SAC was led by Eryn Kirby who had a double-double with 11 kills and 15 digs. Hannah Hettinga added 20 assists and 11 digs and Anna Schoener recorded 12 assists. Breanne Menees added 30 digs in the win. EWU was led by Chenoa Rossi-Childress who had 13 kill. Shelby Puckett added 11 kills and 17 digs. Lindsay Niemeier added a double-double with 23 assist and 15 digs and Laney Brown added 16 assists. Lindsey Petroni led the defense with 33 digs.

MSU was led by Rachelle Allen who had 10 kills. Jennifer Lundquist added 32 assists and Nicole Baker recorded 13 digs. WSU was led by Bethany Wray who had 17 kills. Caitlin Penrod added 31 assists and Michele Arave recorded 11 digs.

UM had five players with double-digit kills. Kelsey Schile had a double-double with 15 kills and 10 digs. Brittany Quick and Kayla Reno added 12 kills, Brook Bray had 11 kills, and Amy Roberts recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 16 digs. Kortney James added 47 assists and 10 digs, and Megan Murphey had 18 digs. ISU was led by Vanessa Muir who had 16 kills, Alydia Fields added 13 kills and Breanne Van Every and Whitney Bartschi recorded 11 kills. Lori Mendenhall recorded 50 assists and 15 digs, and Kylee Searle added 21 digs.

The final regular-season Big Sky volleyball matches are Saturday night. Montana will host Weber State, and Idaho State will travel to Montana State. Both matches begin at 7 p.m. MST. At 7 p.m. PST, Northern Colorado travels to Northern Arizona, and Portland State hosts Sacramento State. All four matches can be watched for free on Big Sky TV.

The 2011 Big Sky Championship matches will begin on Friday, Nov. 25. Eastern Washington, Northern Colorado, Portland State and Sacramento State will all travel to Portland, Ore.
