Men’s and women’s basketball officially joins the fray this week on Big Sky TV as the regular season tips off. The race for the volleyball championship also heats up this week on Big Sky TV, along with November football action.

With two weeks left in the regular season, volleyball action starts Thursday as Montana State travels to Sacramento State at 7 p.m. Pacific. Montana is currently tied for sixth place in the conference with a 6-7 record, while the Hornets are fourth with a 7-5 record.

On Friday, Idaho State will host Northern Colorado, and Northern Arizona will travel to Weber State. The WSU and NAU match will begin at 6 p.m. Mountain, while the ISU and NC match will start at 7 p.m. NC is currently first in the conference with a 10-3 record, while ISU is fifth with a 6-6 conference record. NAU is tied for sixth place with the Grizzlies. Weber State has a 2-10 conference record.

On Saturday, Montana will travel to Sacramento State at 1 p.m. PST. Weber State will play host Northern Colorado, and Northern Arizona will travel to Pocatello, Idaho, to compete against Idaho State. Both matches begin at 7 p.m. Mountain. Eastern Washington will host Portland State at 7 p.m. Pacific.

Saturday’s football action begins at noon as Portland State travels to Northern Colorado. At 1:30 p.m. Mountain, Weber State plays host to Northern Arizona in Weber State coach Ron McBride’s final home game. At 6 p.m. Pacific, Idaho State meets Sacramento State. Eastern Washington is at Cal Poly at 6 p.m. Pacific. That game is televised on KSBY in California, and will also be available on the Internet at www.gopoly.com.

Women’s basketball will open up its regular season with all nine teams in action this weekend. Six games will be featured on Big Sky TV. On Friday, Cal State Fullerton will travel to Sacramento State for a 5:05 tip. Eastern Washington will host Corban College at 6:05 Pacific, and UC Irvine will travel to Portland State for a 7:05 p.m. Pacific.

On Sunday, Hofstra will travel to Eastern Washington for a 1:05 p.m. Pacific contest, and Portland State will host UC Santa Barbara at 2:05 p.m. Pacific. Also on Sunday, UC Riverside will compete in Flagstaff, Ariz., at Northern Arizona at 2:05 p.m. Mountain.

On Tuesday, Adams State will travel to Northern Arizona for a 6:35 p.m. MST game. You can also watch that game on NAUTV/FCS. And on Wednesday, Montana Tech will travel to Montana for a 7:05 p.m. MST game.

Men’s basketball starts Friday night with preseason favorite Weber State playing host to Northern New Mexico at 8 p.m. Mountain. Sacramento State plays host to Menlo at 7:35 p.m. Pacific.

Four men’s games are televised on Friday. Montana State takes on Arizona State at 2:30 p.m. Mountain on Fox Arizona. Idaho State battles Oklahoma on the Sooner Sports Network, and ESPN3. Portland State is at Denver at 7:30 p.m. on Root Sports. Eastern Washington takes on No. 23 Gonzaga at 8 p.m. Pacific on Root Sports and SWX.

On Saturday, defending Big Sky champion Northern Colorado opens its season against New Mexico State at the Butler-Hancock Sports Pavilion at 7:05 p.m.

On Sunday, Central Arkansas is at Sacramento State at 1 p.m. Pacific. Montana State plays host to Northern New Mexico at 7 p.m. Pacific. On Monday, Montana is at home against Great Falls at 7 p.m.
