Portland State and Montana State are the only undefeated teams left in Big Sky Conference team following Saturday's action.

Portland State rode the legs of Connor Kavanaugh and Cory McCaffrey to a 42-35 road win over Idaho State to move to 2-0 in conference. No. 4 Montana State pulled away from Sacramento State in the second half, downing the No. 25 Hornets 31-21 in Bozeman.

Eastern Washington snapped its four-game losing streak and handed Weber State its first conference loss, 27-21. Montana got back on track with a 55-28 win over Northern Colorado.

Kavanaugh rushed for 212 yards and four touchdowns on 12 carries, while McCaffrey rushed for 218 yards and two touchdowns. The Vikings overcame 21 penalties to improve to 3-1 this season.

In Bozeman, Cody Kirk rushed for 134 yards and two touchdowns, while wide receiver Elvis Akpla had six catches for 174 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Bobcats (2-0, 4-1).

Eastern Washington's Bo Levi Mitchell threw for 281 yards and three touchdowns as the defending national champions won for the first time this season. EWU led 24-7 at the half, and held off a late Weber State drive to clinch the win.

At Montana, Gerald Kemp rushed for two touchdowns and threw for two more as the No. 19 Grizzlies took down Northern Colorado 55-28. UM scored 28 third-quarter points to open up a 55-14 lead.
