WSU's Mahoney Wins Honor

OGDEN, UTAH (Dec. 6, 2010) - Weber State’s Darin Mahoney has been selected as the Big Sky Conference men’s basketball player of the week for games played between Dec. 7-12.
Mahoney, a 6-foot-8, 225-pound junior from Heber City, Utah, scored a career-high 19 points with eight rebounds in Weber State’s 77-71 road victory over Southern Utah on Saturday.
Mahoney had never scored more than nine points in a game in his previous 67 career games. Mahoney made 8-of-14 shots from the field and was 3-of-3 from the free-throw line. Mahoney grabbed five offensive rebounds, and tied a career-high with three steals and an assist. Mahoney played a career-high 35 minutes.
Mahoney also played a great defensive game, holding forward Matt Massey scoreless. Massey entered the game averaging almost 10 points per game.
